South Africa Overload?
If you're still thinking about South Africa, following England's ignominious exit from the football World Cup, we've got something from South Africa to shout about. We are really proud of our new wine from the Edgbaston stable - The Berry Box.
This article comes from South Africa's influential wine review 'Wine Goggle' : "..the smart money says this bottle is going to become about as trendy to have on a Sandton or Banty Bay dining table as an iPhone and a set of platinum worry beads.
The wine is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. And the label and the name says it all.
Yes, the bloody thing does taste of berries, so none are going to be used to describe it. But it is a really lovely wine: surprisingly elegant with a dramatic perfume, the kind you’d expect to smell on a Tahitian bridesmaid.
None of this The Jam Jar in-your-face sweet sluttishness. The Berry Box is a real wine, but made with care and attention to detail, shining with radiant grape flavours. An absolute delight to drink."
Couldn't have put it better ourselves!

We've also been introducing other new wines which we think represent good value in a world which seems only to favour supermarket blandness.
We've found a St Emilion (a view looking up to the beautiful village is pictured above - well worth a visit if you've never been!) from the Montagne sub-district which we love - Chateau Rochers-Mirande, which we're able to offer at £10.95 a bottle. I know some of you are thinking that this is over a tenner, so if you're not prepared to go for the big stuff, try the new Bordeaux Superieur, brimming with that typically french grassy fruit which comes in from Chateau Peynaud at £8.95 and is truly wonderful.
On the New World side, you could try our new, punchy Aussie merlot 'The Exhibitionist', which comes in at £6.95 and is packed with soft, balanced blackcurrant fruit but has the balance and finesse you don't get with most of the mass-produced stuff for the supermarket shelves.
We are still getting our wines into the venerable Decanter Magazine. The latest of these is the truly classy Castello di Meleto Vigni Casi Chianti Classico Riserva. Recommending it, Decanter comments on its cherry fruit and observes that it's "fresh and bright and attractive" which is a bit of an understatement for such a complex wine.
It's the latest in a string of reccomendations, including the Phi Pinot Noir as one of “The 50 Best New World Pinot Noirs”, our Stella Bella Cabernet Merlot and our new Austrian Jurtschitsch Loiserberg Grüner Veltliner.
We repeatedly have our Clover Hill Tasmanian Sparkler singled out for a recommendation, but we've also added a superb 2005 vintage pink version, which is (some say) better than quality champagne. And it's a fraction of the price. How's that for a Budget buster!
